A staple of the Sport Management Alliance is our volunteer work both at Bowling Green State University and around the country. We provide our members with a diverse selection of volunteer opportunities.

Slater Family Ice Arena - Celebrating 50 years
As BGSU's famed Ice Arena celebrated its 50th season of operation, SMA was invited to help run the event. Present at the ceremony were 2 BGSU-graduate Olympians who were a part of the famous 1980 Miracle on Ice team. They helped unveil plans for renovation of the arena, and the renaming to the Slater Family Ice Arena. SMA volunteered with check-in and supervision of the event.
SMA and BGSU Athletics share a close partnership. BGSU Athletics provides innumerable volunteer opportunities for our members in dozens of departments. Many of our members find valuable internship experience through the athletic department. In 2017, SMA has members working with Ticketing, Football Operations, Marketing, Compliance, Falcon Sports Properties, Game-day Operations, and Stadium Operations.
Mid-American Conference football Championship
Not all volunteer opportunities are domestic for SMA. We partner yearly with the MAC and work various aspects of the Conference Championship game in Detroit, MI. In 2017, SMA had students working in the press box working spotting for radio and TV announcers, as well as some on-field operations.
