Women's Leadership in Sports Forum
The first of its kind at BGSU, The Women's Leadership in Sports Forum was created in 2017. Female speakers from around the sport industry attended and spoke about their experiences and ability to overcome a steep gender gap in the industry. The first year of the forum was a roaring success, and the event is being made annual. The Forum was also awarded "Best Educational Program" by BGSU for its inaugural year in 2017.
Sport Management Alliance Job & Graduate Fair
The annual Sport Management Expo is the largest sport job and graduate fair symposium at BGSU. In 2019, 25 employers were present and hiring and 120 students attended – the largest ever done at BGSU. Notable employers that have attended include: Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Pistons, Mid-American Conference, Pittsburgh Pirates, Toledo Mudhens, the University of Michigan, and others. Notable graduate schools who have attended: University of Michigan, University of Kentucky, Eastern Michigan University, University of Cincinnati, and others.
3 v 3 Basketball Tournament
SMA partnered with BGSU Recreation & Wellness to put on a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, where 11 teams registered and over 40 participants played a double-elimination tournament. The winners were awarded a t-shirt and a year's worth of bragging rights.
Golf Ball Drop
The Golf Ball Drop is an annual 50/50 raffle-style event dedicated to raising funds for SMA and an opportunity for students to win some cash. In 2016, the event raised over $500, and a lucky student took home $250. The drop was hosted at BGSU's own Forrest-Creason Golf Course.
