SMA Takes on Indy

SMA Takes on Indy

This past weekend (12/1-12/2), SMA took 14 members to Indianapolis to work the Big Ten Championship Fan Fest. Over 50,000 fans came through the Indiana Convention Center to participate in events such as a 3-point shootout, a field goal kick, and a 40-yard dash time.

SMA's Professional Development committee is hosting the annual Graduate & Law School fair TOMORROW, October 19 at 9:30am in the Union Multipurpose Room. Students of all class standings are encouraged to come- it is never too early to start exploring graduate school! Some notable attending schools include: University of Kentucky, University of Michigan, University of Toledo Law, Xavier University, University of Cincinnati, and more. This is a great opportunity to network and get information on your possible graduate school!

DRESS FOR SUCCESS WORKSHOP 10/12

Ever wonder, How do I dress for the career that I want? We all have. Fortunately, Dr. Amanda Koba and Paul Bezdicek have some tips that will help answer this question. Dressing for an interview, job fair, or networking event can make or break a first impression. Come out to BA 106 on ThursdayOctober 12 at 7:30pm to get ahead of your competition in our annual Dress for Success Workshop!

COSTUME 5K

Join SMA on Sunday, October 29 at 11:00am at the Union Oval for our annual Costume 5k run! Come dressed in costume for a chance to win a prize for best costume; prizes are also awarded to fastest men's and women's times for the race. Registration costs $10.00 ($15.00 will get you a t-shirt), and 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the Wood County Humane Society. Report at 10:00am to receive your race bib and preview the route!! We hope to see you there!

GENERAL MEETING TOMORROW

Our October General Meeting will be tomorrow: Wednesday, October 4 at 7:30pm in Union 308. We will be announcing new upcoming social, networking, and volunteer events as well as welcoming guest speaker Jeff Garvin, the Director of Athletic Marketing and Information from Heidelberg University. He will give valuable insight at what being a successful marketer means at a Division III college. As always, we will have pizza and a Kahoot competition giveaway (hint: Trick or Treat). Come out and join us!

We will be having our first professional workshop on Thursday, September 28 at 7:30 pm. The workshop will be held in Business Admin room 106. We will have representatives from the Career Center offering advice on how to create a standout resume and food! Come out and take the next step forward to securing your career!
